On the right of this page you will see the PseudoTUBE video trailer on multiple video sharing sites. Each of these videos are watched at least 10 times a day on each network.

Place your video on 50 sharing sites and get an average of 10 views means you have 500 exposures per day.

Could this be better than PPC?

So how much would 500 advert clicks cost you per day? A good estimate would be $250. So you can see the value of making a promotional video.

I also think that the video has a better result than an advert click. You pay for the click and the prospect arrives on your site. You then have to get their attention and get them to read your sales message. The video does all of this in one go.

Getting it right

If you're ready to make a video then you must spend the time to do it right! If it's going to be viewed 500 times a day then make sure it says everything you need it to. You need to get the viewers attention and keep them interested until the end. Remember to sell benefits, not features. People buy benefits, they want to know what's in it for them.

How to make the video

The PseudoTUBE video was made using a number of free and paid tools. The main screen capture was done with Camtasia from Techsmith, this is a great tool and they provide a 30 day free trial. The special effect at the start was done with a green cloth and some bright lights. The back ground was removed in Animation shop by Jasc and saved as an anim gif. This was place into Microsoft Power Point and re-captured with Camtasia.

Add the video to your own site

This may seem a strange thing to do, why add your trailer video to your own site? Well, it makes it easy for people to learn what you do. There is also a far more important reason. The more your video is played or rated the more exposure it gets on the sharing site. So pick one of the sharing sites and embed their player and your video. Who you choose as your main focus is up to you. Here are some suggestions:

Youtube: They have honours for the most viewed / rated per day / week. If you have a busy site you can boost your views per day. As soon as you get in the top 100 for the day you get extra views for being on the list, which in turn gets you higher and more views. It's a bit like a nuclear chain reaction!

Metacafe: They pay you as soon as your video has more than 20,000 views and a rating over 3.0. So if you want to earn from your own video this may be a good option. The 20,000 views should come quite quickly, it's making sure the viewers think your better than a 3! Their payouts are quite good so you could earn $1000 or $2000 within a year which is a great bonus.

Revver: They also pay you just like Metacafe but there are no restrictions. However the payout is much lower. So if you want to earn but cannot get over 3.0 with Metacafe, try Revver.
